Super busy.

Haven't posted anything in the last couple of days.
Reason is I've taken upon this massive project and it's taking all of my time.
On the plus side, when it's done it'll be bitching.
And you monsieur Luca, will be very happy.

Priorities.

It's insane the things you concern yourself with, depending on which end of the spectrum you're on.

One of the first things I do when I get to work every morning is log into Google Reader and check for updates on blogs I follow.
A couple of days ago I read these posts.(Try to read them both if you don't get bored)
First I read this one from:

generationy
Havana winter
Escrito por: yoanisanchez en Generation Y

The sky is not always that precious blue of the tourist postcards. Thank goodness, because I can not imagine a year with scorching sun without the pause of these weeks that bring cold fronts. Since Monday a cloud has come, bringing London to Havana and severe flooding in the east of the country. The streets are remarkably empty at night because the cold scares away the usual denizens of the parks and sidewalks. Boarding a crowded bus is no longer the fastest way to acquire odor in one’s armpits, rather the entrance to a warm and friendly space. With the low temperatures, humor and tolerance improve; for the old, their bones ache and hot chocolate becomes a recurring hallucination. December is so close that it’s not worth starting anything, say those who have postponed projects throughout the year. The time to spend more is coming, presaging that pockets will be especially empty this Christmas. However, the most sensitive topic is that of coats and blankets, the little protection from the damp cold that enters through the gaps in the windows.

I see people on the street with sweaters and thick, padded synthetic coats, but none of these garments could be purchased with the wages they earn from their work. One has a leather coat sent to him by a sister who lives in New York and the striped one was given to the girl as a gift from a tourist passing through the city. A young boy has a waterproof raincoat inherited from his brother, who in turn got it from an uncle who confiscates luggage at customs. The old woman crossing the street is careful of her half-wool coat, which she got from a neighbor in exchange for a blender. Only the guard at the hotel boasts a denim jacket, with shiny new buttons.

I like the winter and the affability it awakens in people, but I know that for many it’s the season of certain worries and shame. Of not being able to sleep on the park bench, where the rest of the year one gentleman with raggedy clothes has his only home. Of children mocked in school for wearing a coat purchased during the rationing of the 1980s. The cold emphasizes the differences between those who can close the door and those who don’t have a house with windows that shut. It highlights the contrast between those with a long-sleeved garment and those who wear two sweaters because they don’t have a coat. Everything depends on the thermometer and its not dropping another ten degrees, because the housing and clothes of the poor will not withstand a single snowflake.

Until the 27th of this month, each new post will carry a reminder of the online voting for the Bobs awards. Remember that Generation Y is competing in three categories: Best Weblog, Reporters Without Borders Special Award and Best Blog in Spanish. Here is the link:

Then I read this on cool hunting.

Freehands: Now Shipping
by Josh Rubin, 19 November 2008

I announced Freehands a little over a month ago and am happy to post an update that our inventory is now in and orders are being filled! In case you missed the previous post, Freehands, the gloves that let you keep in touch, feature fold-back thumb and index finger tips to expose the fingers you need to use a touch screen, keyboard, MP3 player, PSP or simply to pull something out of your wallet. Small magnets keep the folded back tips from flopping around when they're folded back.

For our first season we wanted to keep things simple. We created three unisex styles: Fleece, Stretch and Leather available in sizes extra small to extra large. We decided to only make them in one color: black. Perhaps the best part, they're $20 (Fleece), $30 (Stretch) and $40 (Leather).

Buy before Saturday and enter the promotion code COOLHUNTING at checkout to get a 20% discount.

Saturday in the Park.

I don't think it was the 4th of July.(Or Saturday for that matter)

Glasgow Park.

Example of why I never do this kind of thing.

It's very hard for me to get certain books(In Spanish) I want to read.
I was always suggested by other people to try and find them on line but I always went..
Naaah!, I'll just wait until I go to Tijuana or until I visit my friends in Monterrey.
Well, today I ran across this website which had Abelardo Castillo's "Cuentos completos" and thought to myself. Si es rapido y es gratis, entonces why not?

After downloading and printing I went a step further and decided to "bind it".
Punched holes(they all line up), found some string and did it.
I was very happy with the result until I noticed It bound on the opposite side hahaha!.
When I was little however, I always read the paper from right to left so all I have to do, is regress to that stage or pretend I live in Japan.

It's proven, You can't hurry Books.

Chau Fall.

I always liked Fall the best.
More than spring.
More than Winter.
Absolutely more than Summer, I hate extra bright and hot days.
Fall was my season, It had everything.
Chilly mornings and nights.
Windy and overcast days.
Lucas in a sweater.
But I guess, I'm gonna have to settle for Spring in New England as my new favorite season.
I just realized today-or maybe yesterday or two weeks ago- I lost Fall last year.

Luca, the Kabbalah days.

It seems like only yesterday Luca was trying to fit in by following Madonna's lead, associating himself with Kabbalah for a couple of days.
It's actually been a few years and my Boy is smarter and funnier every day.
He's also very particular in what He likes and that hat, would not fly today.

Note for the older Lucas: That hat is not a girl's hat, It was passed down to you from Yuuto Van Lobensales and He's also a man.

He's voting for change(No pennies please)

We're less than 48 hours away from the big day.
I know we're all aware of what this election means,"The unthinkable" is about to happen and many people will try whatever means necessary to prevent you from accomplishing your mission.
These are only a few examples. (Though this article is a little one sided) Pay no mind however.
Every single one of you know what you want and no one can tell you what's best for you.
It's a decision you have to make, whether you are Red or Blue.
Read the proposed measures, Do not let television or radio ads tell you what to do. Read the pros and the cons then do what you think is right according to your beliefs.
So come Tuesday, go into that little booth and vote like it's 1999, this country can still go back to being what it used to be. I believe so.
Happy voting home of the brave!

Five young kids crash the idiots party.

Fine example of massive hysteria brought about by the backers of proposition 8 which in short, denies Gay couples the right to have their marriage recognized by the laws of the state of California.
Besides bombarding you with Television ads, apparently they also leave the safety of their homes without any apprehensions and show their aesthetically correct selves.
A crowd of about 200 of these creatures invaded the corners of Hawthorne and El Segundo Blvds. this past Saturday, just to have their thunder stolen by five very brave kids.
After evaluating the situation(The Yes and the No advocates) I came to the conclusion that, I would rather marry any one of the kids against the measure as long as they're 18 and La mama doesn't object.

Who in their right mind would ever marry any of these clowns????

These are the ones I would rather marry.Keep it up kids.

Point Vicente, Palos Verdes.

Lucas likes to go to this place because it has three of His favorite things: Dirt, Rocks and, Water.
He can spend hours throwing Rocks into the Water, and it's always really hard to get Him out of there when it's time to go back home.
This time however, all We had to do was ask Him if He wanted to go to HBO (Target) and He was the first one walking up the cliff.
This shall come in handy next time.

Carrie at the Cemetery or Walking with Zombies?, Hmmm.

Brian de Palma’s “CARRIE” ~ Hollywood Forever Cemetery ~ Sat. Oct. 25th

directed by brian de palma (1976, 98 mins)
courtesy mgm home entertainment

new time!!!
gates at 5:30pm. Film at 7:00pm.
$10 donation tickets available at gate. parking $5.

hollywood forever cemetery
6000 santa monica boulevard at gower
no reservation necessary.
Sophisticated and terrifying, Carrie is one of our favorite horror movies ever! DePalma’s direction, Spacek’s fantastic performance and some great 70s cheese make this one of the scariest and most fun films in the canon. The humiliation of high school reaches its peak with the taunting of oddball student Carrie, who’s telekinetic powers allow her to exact a hair-raising revenge. The cast is top notch, including John Travolta, Karen Allen and PJ Soles with an unforgettable performance by Piper Laurie as the fanatical mom. Join us under the stars for this one-night-only screening of DePalma’s masterpiece.
